Nelson House

More From Hollywood More From California

The spirit of Ozzie Nelson is still the owner.

Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, and their sons, Ricky and David, who had their own family TV show, called The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, in the 1950s and 1960s, lived in this 2 story colonial home for more than 25 years. It represented the Nelsons’ essence so well, that it was used as a model for their stage sets.

During his life, Ozzie Nelson, a cheerful comedian, took care of his body and strived to live a healthy life style. He ate right, didn’t drink, didn’t smoke and kept in good shape. So, it didn’t seem fair that he was stricken with liver cancer and died much too young at the age of 68. He wasn’t ready to leave his family and had expectations to see his grandchildren grow up.

The apparition of Ozzie Nelson

He has been seen in various spots in the house by a variety of people:

His family has seen his somber apparition walking around the house, and hanging around his favorite places.

When new owners (a man and a woman) bought the home in 1975 and moved in, they heard footsteps, faucets and lights seemed to have a mind of their own, and doors opened and closed at will, with no help from the living. The woman also felt a strong, loving presence beside her in bed several times.

In 1994, a painter who was working inside the house, kept hearing foot steps. One day while painting, he felt a strong unseen presence next to him. Looking over, he saw a white, misty form floating next to him, perhaps inspecting his work. It wasn’t hostile, it just seemed to be interested, like a home owner would act.

Don’t know for sure, but it probably is unless a psychic or paranormal psychologist has been brought in to offer some counseling.
